Depot Maintenance Electrical or Mechanical Engineer

Permanent | Full-Time 

Biggleswade
£39,316 including standby fee + excellent benefits

 

We are working with a growing and highly reputable facilities management contractor that has established, stable contracts nationwide and a strong reputation for looking after its employees.

This is a static site-based role in Biggleswade, providing planned and reactive electrical maintenance across the depot.

 

The Role

  • Assist the Depot Maintenance Technician with major and minor maintenance works.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and in line with company procedures.
  • Respond promptly to Service Desk requests, assess faults and carry out repairs as required.
  • Prioritise and complete minor maintenance and repair works within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure tools and equipment required for maintenance works are available and serviceable.
  • Support other depots when required, although the role is primarily aligned to one site.
  • Attend relevant training courses as required.
  • Comply with company health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Work closely with company and client teams to maintain required service and quality standards.
  • Support wider engineering teams when requested.
  • Represent the company professionally and build strong working relationships with client colleagues.
  • Complete works in line with agreed KPIs.
  • Follow the correct approval process for any associated costs.
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and job records.

 

The Person

  • Candidates must hold relevant qualifications in either Electrical or Mechanical disciplines, such as:
  • Electrical: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
  • City & Guilds BS 7671 (17th or 18th Edition)
  • Mechanical: Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Plumbing, Heating or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience within commercial building maintenance.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding, repair and maintenance capability.
  • Able to respond to reactive service requests within agreed timescales.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Flexible to travel when required for on-call purposes.
  • Ideally experienced in a static electrical or multi-skilled maintenance role.
  • Previous depot, warehouse or distribution-site experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Package

  • £39,316 including standby fee
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 40 hours per week (Rotating shifts - 6am-2:30pm, 8am-4.30pm and 10am-6.30pm)

communication skills both face to face and via the telephone. Main roles were fire

service and maintenance for retail customers across whole of Scotland.

Aug 2007 – Dec 2007 Service and Installation Engineer

In the short time I spent at Nova alarms my main duties were carrying out small installs

on new house builds sites across the Dundee area.

 

S and G Fire and Security

Aug 2006 – Aug 2007 Installation Engineer

My role at S and G fire and security was working on a new builds primerely new schools

installing Door Access equipment from install to commissioning the system.

 

Scottish Security

Aug 2005 – Aug 2006 Service Engineer

In this role I have gained experience of managing my own workload, using my initiative

and have gained great knowledge of dealing with customers in the service and

maintenance area. This is a very customer focused role which requires excellent

communication skills both face to face and via the telephone. Main roles were reactive

calls for fife council properties that included CCTV, Door Access, Intruder and Fire

Alarm systems.

Premier Services

May 2001 – Aug 2005 Apprentice to Service and Installation Engineer

At premier Services this is where I gained my apprenticeship in the fire and security

industry, the company put me through a 3 year security course at Telford collage in

Edinburgh which I passed with and SVQ 2 in Security. In the time I spent here I helped

carry out intruder alarm installs in new and old properties also carrying out service

maintenances on intruder alarms throughout Scotland.
