Electrician Renewable Energy

Working in our Technical Services department as part of our Renewable Energy team on commercial and industrial projects in our continually expanding division. The primary focus will be medium to large scale solar PV and battery storage systems however the installation of other low-carbon technologies and opportunities to support other Commercial and Residential contracts will be available.  

Key Responsibilities: 

• Undertake electrical installation and duties on behalf of the OCS, including working alongside and monitoring of contractors, electrician’s mates and apprentices and their workmanship, so that relevant standards are met. 
• Installing, maintaining, modifying and repairing electrical systems both AC and DC (Once approved on OCS Appointed person scheme) 
• Demonstrate competence / experience as a time served electrician 
• Work across a wide range of electrical installation types and materials 
• Demonstrate competence of electrical testing and completion of electrical installation certificates (NIC/EIC). Including appropriate collation of reports, software, correct application of testing equipment etc. 
• Produce reports required by their Line Manager 
• To ensure equipment and surrounding area conform to agreed company standards. 
• Surveying sites where electrical systems are installed 
• Drafting electrical as-installed drawings and technical diagrams 
• To evaluate performance and carry out testing to ensure the proper servicing and maintenance of equipment under our maintenance contracts to the company is carried out. 
• Working in a safe manner at all times, complying with current Health & Safety legislation and OCS internal safe systems of work and Standard operating procedures.  
• The successful candidate must provide a significant contribution to overall efficiency, effectiveness and contract profitability and must, therefore, play its part in the overall delivery of the service. 
• The candidate will support with the implementation of an integrated approach for the delivery of all contracted services ensuring that all works are delivered safely on time, within budget and to the required quality standards in line with BS7671 and the Required IET CoP’s.

Hiring Criteria: 

• Previous experience working within the renewable industry would be ideal but not a necessity
• Full clean driving licence 
• Able to carry out basic IT tasks on handheld devices. 

Essential Qualifications: 

• A craft qualification such as a recognised electrical apprenticeship such as or equivalent to City & Guilds 2350 NVQ 
• Level 3 Electrical Installation Engineering or AM2 
• The current wiring regulations qualification such as or equal to City & Guilds 2381-18 Level 3 Award (18th Edition) Valid and in date Grade card / CSCS Gold Card or equivalent qualification. 

Desirable Qualifications:  

• An Inspection & Testing qualification such as or equal to City & Guilds 2391-52 Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations 
• EAL Level 3 Award in the Installation of Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems or   
• EAL Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation and Commissioning of Electrical Energy Storage Systems or equivalent NOS mapped MCS approved certification
