OCS is seeking reliable and enthusiastic individuals to join the team at British Sugar as a Cleaning & Site Support Operative. This multi-skilled role combines cleaning, site support, and compliance activities to help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment across factory, welfare, and external areas.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Hygiene

Carry out general and industrial cleaning across offices, welfare facilities, production areas, washrooms, kitchens, and external spaces.
Complete daily, weekly, periodic, and reactive cleaning tasks to agreed standards.
Safely use cleaning equipment, machinery, and chemicals in line with training.
Follow colour-coding procedures and maintain cleaning equipment, stores, and stock levels.

Site Support Duties

Support product intervention activities and knife station operations.
Carry out winter gritting and snow clearance of pathways.
Perform Banksman duties to support safe vehicle movements.
Assist with waste management and yard waste removal.
Operate a forklift truck where trained, authorised, and competent.

Compliance, Safety & Service

Complete routine checks including fire extinguishers, safety showers, fridge temperatures, and emergency first aid kits.
Attend daily briefings and wear appropriate PPE and uniform.
Report hazards, defects, accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Follow all site health, safety, environmental, and security procedures.
Complete mandatory training and represent OCS professionally at all times.

Person Specification

Essential

Reliable with good attendance and timekeeping.
Ability to work safely within an industrial environment.
Comfortable following cleaning standards, procedures, and instructions.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Flexible approach to undertaking a variety of cleaning and site support tasks.
Able to read and communicate in English to support safe working practices.

Desirable

Experience in commercial, industrial, or factory cleaning.
Knowledge of BICSc standards, COSHH, and colour-coding systems.
Banksman experience or certification.
Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
Experience carrying out compliance or safety inspections.
