Wood is recruiting a Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer to join our Reading office team.

The Role

As a Civil/Structural Graduate, you will be supported through a development programme designed to build both your technical capability and professional confidence. We provide:

As a Graduate Civil/Structural you will gain exposure to multiple stages of the project lifecycle, developing practical, hands‑on experience alongside experienced engineers. Your work may include involvement in: 

  • Civil Engineering – Site selection and site preparation, geotechnical and foundation design engineering, earthworks and ground improvement, Infrastructure development, and plant drainage schemes
  • Structural Engineering – Structural engineering analysis and design of all plant structures, process modules and plant buildings
  • Construction and Field Engineering support- Opportunities to support construction activities 

In addition to traditional oil, gas and industrial projects, you can expect to contribute to Wood’s expanding portfolio of energy transition and low‑carbon developments, including: 

  • Carbon Capture: Civil and structural engineering associated with  compression, transport and sequestration facilities, from concept development through to detailed engineering.
  • Hydrogen: blue hydrogen (w/CCS), green hydrogen, ammonia/hydrogen economy innovation.
  • Future of hydrocarbons: adapting existing facilities and designing ambitious new projects, to produce the next generation of lower carbon fuels and chemicals.


Qualifications

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for high-achieving graduates who are motivated to learn and build a career in Civil/Structural engineering. The ideal candidates will have:

  • Minimum 2:1 degree to MEng level in Civil Engineering, or related discipline, which must be an accredited degree course
  • A strong interest in industrial based civil and structural engineering

We are seeking graduates who enjoy problem solving / trouble-shooting, detailed analysis, willing to embrace new ideas, and most importantly; take on assignments where the approach or solution isn’t known at the outset.

  4. We will then be holding screening calls throughout May/June 2026 with those candidates that fit the criteria.
