We are working with a highly reputable and well-established facilities management contractor providing building maintenance services to clients across the UK.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an HSE Advisor to join their Health & Safety team.
This is a varied role combining office work, home working and regular site visits, supporting operational teams across a wide range of Health & Safety matters.
The business is open to considering candidates who may not meet every requirement today, providing they can demonstrate the right attitude, aptitude and potential to develop successfully within the role.
The Role
As HSE Advisor, you will support the delivery of an effective Health & Safety service across the business, helping ensure statutory responsibilities are met and safe working environments are maintained.
Key duties will include:
- Support the management and delivery of Health & Safety across the business.
- Liaise with Project Managers and operational teams on Health & Safety requirements.
- Carry out site inspections, audits and Health & Safety reviews.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of risk assessments, procedures and associated documentation.
- Undertake accident investigations and prepare clear, professional reports and recommendations.
- Monitor changes to legislation, guidance and best practice and support their implementation.
- Provide practical Health & Safety advice to managers and employees.
- Assist with the development and delivery of Health & Safety training.
- Carry out surveys, audits, training and consultancy for third-party clients where required.
- Ensure urgent site issues and major incidents are responded to promptly.
- Produce inspection and investigation reports within agreed timescales.
- Attend quarterly Health & Safety team meetings.
- Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing training and development.
The Person
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous experience within Health & Safety, ideally within facilities management, building maintenance, construction or a similar operational environment.
- Hold a relevant Health & Safety qualification, ideally NEBOSH.
- Ideally be CMIOSH qualified.
- Candidates with TechIOSH, GradIOSH or those working towards Chartered status will also be considered.
- Have a good understanding of risk assessments, audits, accident investigations and Health & Safety procedures.
- Be confident communicating with employees, managers, clients and other stakeholders.
- Be able to provide practical and commercially sensible Health & Safety advice.
- Be organised, proactive and comfortable managing a varied workload.
- Be willing to learn and develop where additional experience or knowledge is required.
- Be comfortable travelling regularly throughout the assigned region.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
