Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the U.S. government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Painter to support a unique U.S. Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Perform preservation, surface preparation, coating, and finishing tasks aboard facilities, structures, or assigned work areas in accordance with Navy and program standards.
Prepare surfaces by removing rust, corrosion, old coatings, and debris using hand tools, pneumatic tools, grinders, sanders, and other approved equipment.
Apply primers, paints, coatings, and sealants using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment following technical instructions and safety requirements.
Support corrosion-control activities, including chipping, scraping, sanding, masking, and coating of various surfaces.
Maintain cleanliness, readiness, and accountability of all painting tools, PPE, materials, and equipment.
Assist with setup, staging, containment, and cleanup of work areas to ensure safe and compliant operations.
Follow instructions from supervisors to complete preservation and painting tasks safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards.
Maintain accurate logs, material usage notes, and basic documentation related to paint and preservation activities.
Ensure all painting and coating activities comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Communicate progress, issues, and safety concerns to supervisors and leadership as required.
1-3 years of experience in painting, preservation, coatings, corrosion control, or related maintenance fields.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date.
Ability to meet and maintain contract medical requirements for the duration of assignment.
Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Previous experience supporting Navy, maritime, industrial, or facility maintenance programs.
Familiarity with Navy preservation standards, coating systems, and corrosion-control procedures.
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to follow technical instructions.
Experience working in remote, industrial, or confined-space environments.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
