Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

This role is home-based, with regular weekly travel to different sites across the UK. Overnight stays may be required from time to time.

We are seeking a proactive and experienced QHSE Manager to take the lead on all aspects of health, safety, and compliance across our sites. This is a key leadership role responsible for embedding a strong safety culture, managing risk, ensuring legal compliance, and providing expert advice and guidance across our operations. You will work closely with department heads (e.g. Tourist Attractions, Leisure attractions) to ensure our sites meet and exceed industry standards in safety management.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the site's health and safety management system in line with UK legislation and industry best practice.
  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments for all areas, including rides, attractions, staff facilities, and public spaces.
  • Lead on accident investigations, incident reporting, and root cause analysis – ensuring lessons learned and safety bulletins are communicated and embedded.
  • Manage the preparation, review, and update of safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations such as RIDDOR, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, and other relevant UK HSE requirements.
  • Oversee contractor management systems and ensure third-party compliance.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff at all levels to promote awareness and understanding of safe working practices.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies including the HSE, Local Authority, Environmental Health, and Insurers where necessary.
  • Play a key role in emergency planning and response including first aid, fire safety, crowd control, and adverse weather procedures.
  • Support seasonal opening/closing preparations and major event safety planning.

Necessary criteria to meet:

  • General secondary education with a high level of numeracy and literacy
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
  • Experience working within a similar role with leisure centres or large tourist attractions is essential 
  • TECH IOSH status
  • Detailed and comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety compliance and statutory requirements placed on the business.
  • Extensive practical safety management and delivery experience, preferably in Tourist Attractions, Leisure attractions, theme park environment.
  • A proven history of working in relevant industry sectors is important combined with specialist knowledge of services e.g. hard services, cleaning, working at height, security, catering, logistics, grounds maintenance, cleansing, transport and facilities management.
  • A credible level of experience in investigating significant events and in dealing with enforcement agencies. A good knowledge and understanding of civil claims and criminal enforcement.
  • Combined with the hands-on delivery required in this role is strategic project work.Therefore, an analytical approach to problem solving and decision making is essential.
  • Able to operate and communicate competently with any level of customer within both the internal and external client organisation.
  • The ability to demonstrate proactive customer relationship management and effective relationship building is essential.
  • Confident when dealing with the enforcing authorities.
  • Behaves in an ethical and sustainable way in all they do
  • Seek to be motivational and encouraging.
