Help us create a better future, quicker!

At SP Energy Networks, we're investing billions to transform the electricity network and deliver the infrastructure needed for a cleaner, greener future. As demand for electricity continues to grow and renewable generation expands, we're building a smarter, more resilient network that will enable the transition to Net Zero and support communities for generations to come.

To support this ambitious programme, we're looking for two experienced Quantity Surveyors to join our Transmission business. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering a significant portfolio of overhead line and substation projects across Central and Southern Scotland, helping to connect renewable energy and strengthen the UK's critical infrastructure.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll provide commercial leadership across projects from tender stage through to final account, ensuring robust cost management, contractual compliance, and successful project delivery under NEC4 contracts. You'll work closely with project teams, contractors and stakeholders, contributing directly to some of Scotland's most strategically important energy projects.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing all commercial aspects of projects from tender through to final account.
  • Preparing and administering NEC4 contract documentation.
  • Negotiating tender submissions and supporting procurement activities.
  • Producing monthly valuations, forecasts and commercial reports.
  • Managing early warnings, compensation events and change control processes.
  • Ensuring accurate commercial records are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supporting project teams with commercial advice and risk management.
  • Driving continuous improvement and best practice across commercial activities.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a construction, infrastructure, engineering or utilities environment.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge with experience in cost control and procurement.
  • Proven experience administering NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent relevant experience.

Desirable

  • MRICS accreditation.
  • Previous experience within the utilities, energy or transmission sectors.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure or capital projects.

Minimum Criteria

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent significant experience undertaking Quantity Surveying activities within a construction or engineering environment.
