Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing tenders, analysing and selecting subcontractors, negotiating and finalising subcontract orders.
  • Managing financial and commercial aspects of subcontractors to final account completion.
  • Maintaining site records and document control.
  • Recording site measurements.
  • Assisting with forecasts, targets and contract value reconciliations.
  • Preparing valuations and variations with sufficient records and details, agreeing changes as works progress.
  • Updating projected final account and submitting in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with site management to influence and challenge commercial matters
  • Implement commercial strategy.
  • Engage in cash management activities to ensure good cash flow
  • Support tender processes as required
  • Maintain site records and control documents
  • Apply clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Effectively utilise technology platforms
  • Be fully conversant with the Standard Method of Measurement
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and ownership
  • Apply time management organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills

Experience, Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry, managing costs, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of JCT contracts, subcontract procurement, contract administration, and commercial risk management.
  • Experience undertaking Contract Value Reviews (CVRs), forecasting, cost reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with subcontractors and collaborate with project teams to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of relevant software
  • Ability to effectively prioritise a busy workload and meet project deadlines
  • Use of Microsoft Word, Excel

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying (or other equivalent commercially related discipline)
  • Civil engineering work experience, including utilities knowledge of a wide range of contract conditions
  • Two years estimating experience
  • Negotiation skills
  • Contract value reviews (CVRs

Skills & Competencies

  • Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
  • Structural or civil engineering qualification (Desirable)
  • Current Driving Licence
