Groundworks Site Manager

Join a forward-thinking construction team where your leadership and technical expertise will shape the successful delivery of high-quality groundworks projects. We’re looking for a motivated Groundworks Site Manager who can drive safety, efficiency, and performance across busy, fast-paced sites.

In this role, you will lead experienced teams, coordinate resources, and ensure every stage of the project is delivered to the highest standards—on time, on budget, and with a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities Operational Management

  • Lead and manage daily site operations, overseeing Engineers, Foremen, operatives, and plant teams.

  • Plan and schedule works efficiently to ensure materials, plant, and equipment are always available when needed.

  • Ensure all construction activities meet project specifications, drawings, and quality benchmarks.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Champion a strong safety culture across the site, ensuring full compliance with company policies and HSE legislation.

  • Conduct regular inspections, ensuring RAMS, permits, and safety documentation are current and adhered to.

  • Maintain and promote high standards of workmanship and quality control throughout all phases of the project.

Planning & Reporting

  • Develop detailed work programmes, identifying risks early and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Produce accurate site records, progress updates, and checkpoint reports in a clear and professional manner.

  • Work closely with the Contracts Manager and QS, providing timely progress and cost updates.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Liaise effectively with internal departments—Estimating, Buying, Engineering, and Commercial—to support smooth project delivery.

  • Build productive relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure expectations are met and exceeded.

  • Assist in forecasting labour, materials, and plant to support accurate commercial and operational planning.

Technical & Temporary Works

  • Oversee all temporary works operations, ensuring designs are followed safely and correctly.

  • Promote technical excellence and best practice across all groundworks activities.

General Expectations

  • Professional, reliable, and punctual.

  • Able to collaborate with all trades and site personnel to support overall programme delivery.

  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK.

  • Complete the company’s IT induction and training programme within the first 1–3 months.

Cards & Qualifications

  • CSCS (Supervision/Management) or relevant Engineering Degree/Equivalent

  • Temporary Works Coordinator

  • CITB 5-Day SMSTS

  • First Aid at Work
