London - £27,705.60 / Manchester - £25,178.40

Placement overview

Kick-start your career in Commercial Management with a one-year placement at Latimer, by Clarion Housing Group.

As part of our Commercial Team, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the delivery of real development projects while learning how commercial decisions shape the success of our schemes. This structured placement programme is designed to help you grow into a confident and capable commercial professional, giving you the opportunity to develop practical skills in areas such as commercial management, procurement and risk management while working alongside experienced industry specialists.

Throughout the year, you’ll be supported by a structured development programme and competency framework, helping you build both your technical knowledge and professional skills. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn and network with our current cohort of Latimer graduates, developing skills in areas such as leadership, strategic thinking and change management.

By the end of the placement, you’ll have a strong understanding of how Commercial teams operate within the Development process, gain valuable industry experience to take back into your studies, and if you’re studying a cognate degree; experience that can contribute towards your Assessment of Professional Competence.

What to expect

As you progress through the programme, you will collaborate with colleagues across the Development team, building your confidence as a key operational support within the commercial function while gaining exposure to procurement, risk management, contractual matters, and cost monitoring across live projects.

You will help monitor the performance of suppliers and joint venture partners against contractual requirements, identifying trends or potential issues and sharing insights with the Commercial Director and the wider Development team. Alongside this, you will contribute to a positive and collaborative working culture by building strong internal relationships and promoting teamwork and mutual respect in your day-to-day interactions, while also providing support to the Cost Planning and Project Management teams, as well as other areas of the Development function when required.
