DescriptionAbout the Role
Sherwin-Williams is seeking a Chartered Structural Engineer to join our Passive Fire Protection team supporting the EMEAI region. This is a technically focused role requiring strong expertise in structural steel design, particularly cellular beams, and experience within consultancy or fabrication environments.
You will act as a technical authority within structural fire engineering, support complex engineering solutions, mentor junior engineers, and represent Sherwin-Williams in high-level client and industry engagements. A key element of the role is the development and advancement of structural fire engineering capabilities within our FIRETEX Design Estimator (FDE) software, including ownership of software design specifications and compliance with relevant design codes.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced structural engineering and fire-engineered solutions for complex projects
- Collaborate with structural steel designers to promote the benefits of structural fire engineering
- Support estimation and specification activities using FDE, AutoCAD, Tekla, and BIM tools
- Represent Sherwin-Williams on standards committees and industry councils across the EMEAI region
- Own and maintain FDE software design specifications, ensuring compliance with EU and NAM design codes
- Drive innovation in structural fire engineering capabilities within FDE
- Mentor and develop junior engineers within the Fire Engineering and Estimation Team (FEET)
- Engage with clients and industry bodies to promote Sherwin-Williams’ technical leadership
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IStructE (Institute of Structural Engineers)
- Advanced expertise in structural design, including cellular beams
- Experience in consultancy and/or fabrication environments
- UK driving license and access to a car for occasional customer visits per month
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualification or experience in fire engineering
- Experience in the design of passive fire protection systems
- Experience working within a diverse, global organisation
