ETG Civil Engineering is looking for a Yard Manager to support the smooth running of our yard. ETG is a busy well-established groundworks contractor based near Droitwich, Worcestershire.
The successful candidate must have previous experience in a similar role and have experience with all forms of construction machinery and tools. Due to the nature of the business the candidate must have a dynamic approach to problem solving and be able to think on their feet. Within this role the candidate will be working closely with our director, plant administrator and our HGV driver.
The main responsibilities outlined below are not exhaustive and the candidate will be expected to grow and adapt with in their role depending on the needs of the business.
General Duties
- Responsible for the daily management of the yard ensuring it is kept organised and safe.
- Working alongside the procurement department to manage yard materials, fuel stocks, PPE and consumables.
- Orchestrate all asset and material movements in an efficient manor, by planning routes, scheduling deliveries liaising with the plant administrator, operations and the procurement department.
- Oversee and manage the company HGV Driver, organise their schedule and ensure they work in accordance with driver hours.
- Responsibility for the logistics of all assets ensuring that they arrive safely and in a timely manner.
- Adhere to operator’s license, HGV regulations.
- Working closely with the plant administrator ensure all the required permits are obtained where necessary.
- Loading and unloading vehicles with materials, stock, tools and plant equipment in a safe manner.
- Keeping the yard tidy, organised and safe. Ensuring materials are stored properly.
- Performing routine maintenance, cleaning the yard and equipment ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
- Monitor and maintaining stock levels
- General property repairs
- Driving – materials and equipment to our various sites around the country when required.
General Requirements
- Previous proven experience in a similar role (Minimum 2 years)
- Knowledge of construction plant, tools and vehicles required.
- Physically fit due to the nature of the role.
- Ability to work autonomy, manage multiple priorities and solve complex problems.
- Proactive attitude to problem solving & forward thinking.
- High attention to detail, good organisational and time management skills.
- Commitment to health & safety
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation and HGV regulations.
- Strong organisation & communication skills, closing tasks out quickly and efficiently.
- Clean driving license
- Proactive attitude to problem solving
- HGV and trailer license (desirable)
- CSCS card / CPCS or NPORS qualifications (desirable)
This is a full-time on-site position based at our yard in Hanbury.
An excellent package is available to the right candidate.
£40,000 depending on the candidate
28 days annual leave (including 8 days statutory)
Based on 47.5 hours per week (Working hours to be agreed usually 7am – 5pm)
Opportunity for overtime on ad hoc basis to meet the business needs.
