Description

Remarkable people, trusted by clients to design and advance the world

Wood is currently sourcing Senior Structural Engineer candidates for an Expression of Interest role we may have available within our Operations team in Glasgow. Please note that this is not an active position at this stage.

The Role:

For  strong structural engineers, an exciting opportunity to shift beyond conventional buildings and infrastructure and apply your technical capability where it will have industry‑wide impact.

The energy sector—Blue & Green hydrogen projects, energy transition projects, Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Carbon Capture projects - needs engineers who can think critically, design elegantly, and bring rigour to complex structural challenges.

If you’re working toward IStructE registration in the next 12–24 months, this transition not only accelerates your professional growth but exposes you to an environment where advanced analysis, novel materials, and unique loading conditions become part of your day‑to‑day engineering toolkit.

Moving into oil & gas decarbonisation and green energy means stepping into a role where your work directly contributes to the global energy transition. Engineers entering this sector play a vital part in extending the life of existing assets safely, reducing emissions through smarter design, and enabling the rollout of large‑scale renewable technologies that will power the decades ahead. It’s a space where your structural expertise becomes a catalyst for change—helping industry move from traditional carbon-heavy operations to cleaner, more efficient, more sustainable solutions. If you’re looking for a career move that blends challenge, purpose, and long‑term opportunity, this is where you can make a real difference.

Designing the future. Transforming the world

P&E offers a wide range of opportunities which will allow you to develop your skills across a portfolio of onshore projects in different sectors. Our current portfolio includes green hydrogen and fuel switching, as well as supporting local clients with energy transition.  Additionally, we work on UK refineries, petrochemical facilities, fine chemicals and pharmaceutical facilities. We have a number of clients who we are working with to design their pilot plants to test exciting new technologies, with a view to partnering with them as they move to design and build full scale commercial facilities.
