Join Our Team at NY Highways Property!

Are you a skilled and motivated individual with a passion for hands-on work and problem-solving? We’re looking for a Labourer to join our dynamic Property Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and forward-thinking organisation, working on a variety of capital projects and responsive maintenance tasks across a diverse portfolio of commercial properties across North Yorkshire.

This role is within NYH Property, which operates independently from the highways maintenance side of NY Highways. While NYH Property is part of the wider NY Highways group, this position focuses solely on property maintenance and construction across a range of private, public and commercial buildings not highways or road infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving our properties. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out a wide range of general maintenance tasks including building, drainage, brickwork, joinery, plumbing, glazing, plastering, flooring, painting, tiling, fencing, and roofing.
  • Supporting both planned maintenance and emergency response workstreams.
  • Operating tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assisting tradespeople (e.g. Joiners, Plumbers) on more complex jobs.
  • Handling materials, receiving deliveries, and keeping work areas tidy and organised.
  • Using handheld devices to record completed work and report defects.
  • Following health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Participating in our on-call rota to respond to emergency repairs.

  • Willingness to travel across the county and participate in the on-call rota
  • Enhanced DBS check (Children’s Barred List)

Desirable (or willingness to train):

  • PASMA certification
