Tarmac Rakehand

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced Tarmac Rakehand to join a busy Machine Lay Gang on a project in Folkestone. You will play an important role in supporting asphalt laying operations, helping to ensure materials are evenly distributed and finished to a high standard in line with project specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Raking and levelling asphalt to required levels and tolerances
• Ensuring smooth and even distribution of materials behind the paving machine
• Working closely with the paver operator, screwman and roller drivers
• Assisting with maintaining correct line and level during paving operations
• Supporting the gang with manual tasks, including shovelling and material handling
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Adhering to all site health, safety and environmental procedures
• Working efficiently as part of a team to meet programme deadlines
• Assisting with general site duties as required to support paving operations

REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid CSCS Card
• Proven experience working as a Tarmac Rakehand or in a similar role
• Good understanding of asphalt laying processes and site practices
• Ability to work effectively as part of a gang and follow instructions
• Strong awareness of health and safety on site
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions
• Reliable, punctual and committed to high standards of work
• Right to work in the UK

DESIRABLE:

• CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Ride-On Roller
• CPCS / NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper
• CPCS / NPORS Paver / Asphalt Machine
• Streetworks (NRSWA) Ticket
• Experience working on highways or large-scale infrastructure projects
